SIIFIC is delighted to introduce our inaugural interns, Lily Thomas and Kai Rosenbaum, who will be joining our team from June to August 2025. While SIIFIC primarily invests in Japanese wellness startups, we enthusiastically welcome interns from diverse backgrounds and feel fortunate to host Lily from the UK and Kai from the US, forming a harmonious and collaborative pair.
Lily Thomas

Lily is a rising senior at Amherst College, majoring in Economics with a keen interest in Sociology and Architecture. She brings a fresh perspective, particularly intrigued by the inconsistent and often ambiguous language used in venture capital meetings and stakeholder communications. Lily aims to uncover how we can develop a more unified understanding of genuine impact in investment strategies. Outside of her studies, Lily enjoys playing squash, delving into Behavioral Economics and neuromarketing research, curating music playlists, collecting postcards, enjoying coffee, and long walks in the British countryside with her jackapoo.
Kai Rosenbaum

Kai is a rising junior at the University of California, San Diego, majoring in Business Economics. Half Japanese, Kai has visited Tokyo before, but this internship marks his first professional experience in Japan. Drawn to SIIFIC by his interest in finance and a strong desire to learn about due diligence, business operations, and impact investing, Kai is eager to support the SIIFIC team. Kai is also keen to improve his business Japanese through his internship. Outside work, Kai previously played soccer for UC Santa Cruz’s club team and enjoys spending time with his mixed terrier, Popo.
Lily and Kai are already making significant contributions as a team – Lily, who does not speak Japanese, and Kai, who is developing his Japanese skills, complement each other exceptionally well. SIIFIC is proud and excited to have these bright and committed individuals as our first-ever interns.
Stay tuned for future newsletters and updates from Lily and Kai!
