Seeds Framework

The “Seeds Framework” refers to the presence of all three essential components: Idea, Science, and Needs. After confirming alignment with SIIFIC’s four investment themes as an initial filter, we evaluate whether a prospective investment meets these three criteria.

The framework was originally developed by SIIFIC’s Founding Partner, Kazu Umeda, during his years leading numerous venture capital investments. It is now embedded in our investment review process as a core evaluation lens. Based on Kazu’s experience, opportunities that combine a strong scientific foundation with a distinctive idea and a clearly demonstrated societal or market need are the ones most likely to generate meaningful economic impact.
