SIIFIC Earns Certified B Corporation™ Status

SIIF Impact Capital Inc. (“SIIFIC”; Co-Founders: Kazuhiro Umeda and Reiri Miura) is pleased to announce that it has earned Certified B Corporation™ (“B Corp™”) status in June 2026, and that its assessment results have been published on the B Corp website.

B Corp certification is awarded to companies that have been independently verified to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. The “B” stands for “Benefit,” reflecting a commitment to creating benefits not only for shareholders, but also for people, communities, and the planet.

Achieving a score of 102.2 points—well above the minimum certification threshold of 80 points—represents a significant milestone for SIIFIC.

Why We Pursued B Corp Certification – Our Purpose

Since our founding, SIIFIC has been committed to realizing ‘a society where everyone can live better’. To this end, we invest in startups that enhance wellness literacy and strengthen social capital. For us, impact investing is not merely about providing capital to companies addressing social challenges; it is also about investors themselves taking responsibility as active agents of social change. Within the venture capital industry, there has been growing emphasis on encouraging portfolio companies to adopt ESG practices and impact-oriented management. At the same time, however, the governance, decision-making processes, and accountability of investment firms themselves have not always been subject to the same level of scrutiny. We believe that investors should hold themselves to the same standards they expect from the companies they support. This principle—practicing what we ask of others—has been central to our approach from the beginning.

B Corp certification is a globally recognized standard that evaluates how companies create values for all stakeholders, including employees, customers, communities, and the environment, in addition to shareholders. For SIIFIC, becoming a Certified B Corporation is not about obtaining a new credential or enhancing our brand. Rather, it represents our commitment to having our values and management practices assessed against an independent global standard and to continuously improving them over time.

We believe that responsibility for creating positive social and environmental outcomes should not rest solely with portfolio companies. Investors also must embrace that responsibility. Pursuing B Corp certification is our way of demonstrating that commitment and reaffirming our role in building a more equitable, sustainable, and resilient future.

The Journey to Certification

For SIIFIC, obtaining B Corp certification was not about adapting to a new framework or undertaking a temporary initiative. Rather, it was an opportunity to make visible the values and organizational culture that have guided us since our founding, and to have them assessed against a globally recognized standard.

As a young fund established just three years ago, one of the most meaningful aspects of this achievement is that the principles and practices we have embraced from the outset were recognized through an internationally respected evaluation framework. B Lab assesses not only a company’s products and services, but also the values embedded within the organization, its decision-making processes, its relationships with employees and communities, and the way it conducts business as a whole.

We believe that what has been recognized through this certification is not simply our business model, but the way SIIFIC operates as an organization on a daily basis. The certification reflects the governance practices, stakeholder-oriented mindset, and organizational behaviors that we have sought to cultivate since inception.

We view this certification not as a destination, but as the beginning of a new chapter. It serves as a foundation upon which we will continue to deepen the values that inspired SIIFIC’s creation and strengthen our commitment to building a more equitable and sustainable future through investment.

Advancing Social and Environmental Impact

The impact SIIFIC seeks to create extends beyond the growth of individual companies. We are committed to advancing systems change—addressing the underlying structures and conditions that give rise to social and environmental challenges in the first place.

Issues such as health inequities, isolation from society, and the weakening of local communities cannot be solved through a single product or service alone. These challenges are deeply interconnected and require long-term efforts to reshape the systems that influence how people live, work, and relate to one another. Through our investments in companies that enhance wellness literacy and strengthen social capital, SIIFIC aims to help build the foundations of a society in which individuals can lead more empowered and fulfilling lives.

B Corp certification is to ensure that this commitment is reflected not only in our investment activities, but also in the way we operate as an investment business organization. Rather than treating social and environmental considerations as peripheral concerns, the B Corp certification places them at the center of governance, decision-making, and accountability.

We believe that if impact investors are genuinely committed to driving social transformation, their own organizations must also be part of that transformation. B Corp certification embodies this belief and serves as an important foundation for advancing the vision of wellness equity that SIIFIC seeks to realize.

By integrating investment performance with responsible and sustainable organizational practices, we aspire to contribute to broader and more enduring social and environmental impact. In doing so, we hope to demonstrate that financial returns, stakeholder responsibility, and systems-level change can be pursued not as competing objectives, but as mutually reinforcing outcomes.

Our Commitment Going Forward

Achieving B Corp certification is not an end in itself for SIIFIC. Rather, we view it as a milestone for continuous improvement and a commitment to holding ourselves to ever higher standards.

First, we are committed to deepening collaboration with our portfolio companies. We aspire to be more than providers of capital; we seek to be partners in creating systems change. To that end, we will continue sharing knowledge and best practices related to impact measurement, organizational development, and stakeholder-oriented management, helping portfolio companies strengthen their capacity to create long-term value for society.

Second, we are committed to further strengthening our organizational culture as an impact-focused venture capital firm. We believe that exceptional investment performance and meaningful social impact are both rooted in healthy, inclusive, and purpose-driven organizations. We will continue fostering a culture of learning, reflection, and continuous improvement, while creating an environment in which every team member can connect with our purpose and take initiative with autonomy and responsibility.

Third, we are committed to contributing to the broader evolution of the venture capital industry. In Japan, only a limited number of venture capital firms have obtained B Corp certification. We hope to contribute to industry-wide dialogue and practice by demonstrating a model in which investors themselves embrace accountability for their social and environmental impact, alongside their financial responsibilities.

Ultimately, our focus extends beyond short-term outcomes. We are motivated by the opportunity to help build stronger social systems for future generations. B Corp certification marks an important milestone in that journey, and we will continue striving toward our vision of ‘a society where everyone can live better’.
